5 killed in head-on collision between microbus, auto-rickshaw in Narayangaj
One of the victims is yet to be identified
Five people were killed in a head-on collision between a microbus and a battery-run auto-rickshaw in Siddhirganj upazila of Narayanganj.
The accident took place near Kanchpur Bridge at around 9:30am on Sunday.
Four of the deceased were identified as autorickshaw driver Hanif, 25, Mamun, 30, Nur Uddin, 45, and Jamal Mia, 42, said Kanchpur Highway police station Officer-in-Charge Nabir Hossain
Quoting witnesses, the OC said that the auto-rickshaw collided with the Dhaka-bound microbus, killing Nur Uddin on the spot. The four other victims were rescued and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where they succumbed to their injuries.
DMCH police outpost Inspector Bachchu Mia said doctors declared three of the victims dead on arrival, and the other died while undergoing treatment at the hospital’s emergency department.
