Bangladesh captain Shakib al Hasan will enter the Twenty20 World Cup 2022 Australia on top of the world after he was elevated to the No 1 spot for all-rounders on the latest MRF Tyres ICC Men's T20 International Player Rankings.
Shakib claimed top billing on the back of an excellent tri-series against New Zealand and Pakistan, with the veteran hitting consecutive half-centuries during Bangladesh's final two matches, reports ICC.
That form saw Shakib move in front of Afghanistan ace Mohammad Nabi and in to the top ranking for all-rounders, ahead of Bangladesh's T20 World Cup campaign in Australia.
Bangladesh’s second and final T20 World Cup warm-up against South Africa in Brisbane Wednesday was abandoned without a ball bowled.
The Tigers will begin their campaign this Monday in Hobart against the runners up side of Group A from the first round.
